About Gormans Clifftop House and Restaurant

We are situated in the townland of Glaise Bheag, near the small fishing village of Ballydavid, on the north-western tip of the Dingle Peninsula (Corca Dhuibhne). At the front of the house is Smerwick Harbour with a view of the Three Sisters and Sybil Head to your left, and Black Rock and Ballydavid Head to your right. The mountains behind the house are known as the Brandon Range, and Mount Brandon, which is almost central, with a dome shaped summit, is the second highest mountain in Ireland, at three thousand, one hundred and twenty-seven feet.
This is a Gaeltacht where Irish is the first language, so it only remains for us to say:

Ta failte is fiche roimh einne go bhfuil an Ghaeluinn acu agus fonn orthu I a labhairt agus is I an Ghaeluinn gnath-theanga an teaghlaigh.

BAIN SULT AGUS TAITNEAMH AS BHUR TURAS!.

Gormans Clifftop House and Restaurant Rooms

" A room with a view " is an ideal way to describe our bedrooms.
All rooms have breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, be it ocean or mountains. They are spacious and furnished with thought for your comfort, using traditional handmade waxed pine furniture, set off with beautiful handthrown Louis Mulcahy pottery lamps and tapestry wall hangings courtesy of local tapestry artist & weaver Lisbeth Mulcahy.

Our beds are top quality orthapaedic. Double rooms boast kingsize beds while superior rooms have super kingsize .
We also have twin bedded and family rooms.
The rooms have direct dial phones, television, clock radio and hairdryer. There is also a slection of books to choose from and a very comprehensive informative folder on The Dingle Peninsula.
Room service is available from 8.00am to 10.00pm
should you require anything.
Eight rooms are fully ensuite with bath and power shower, while the superior rooms are fitted with jacuzzi bath for that extra bit of luxury. One of our ground floor rooms is fitted with bath and separate walk-in shower.

While your bedroom may be all you want, we do encourage guests to make themselves at home and come out into the lounge, where the fire is lit each evening. It is a place to meet with us and other guests for just a chat or to plan routes, day trips and generally exchange information. Again there are books, both general reading and books of Irish and local interest, to suit all ages, these are here to be enjoyed and not just as ornaments.

Gormans Clifftop House and Restaurant Location

We are situated in the townland of Glaise Bheag, near the small fishing village of Ballydavid, on the north-western tip of the Dingle Peninsula (Corca Dhuibhne).

The Dingle Peninsula is located in the Southwest of Ireland approximately 2 1/2 hours drive from Shannon Airport, 2hrs drive from Cork Airport and 1 hour drive from Kerry Airport.

Directions:- Drive straight through Dingle with harbour and sea on your left to roundabout west of town.  Go straight across roundabout sign posted ‘An Fheothanach’.  We are exactly 8 miles from roundabout where in doubt keep left but don’t turn left or right off the road.  You will come back out to the coast, the sea will be on your right after about ¼ mile we will be on your left next to a circular house.

Scenic Route (approx 25miles – suitable only if you arrive on the peninsula early in the day and want to get in some sight seeing.):- Turn left at the roundabout over the bridge following ‘The Slea Head Drive Signs.’  This will bring you right around the western edge of the peninsula, through Ventry (Ceann Trá),  Dunquin (Dún Chaoin), Ballyferriter (Baile an Fheirtéaraigh).  We are on the section between Muiríoch and Feothanach. Approaching us this way the sea will be on your left and we will be on your right.

Walking The Dingle Way:-  From Ballydavid harbour take the cliffpath heading north.  Where this path joins the road we are to the right .  Alternatively coming from Mount Brandon come through Feothanach, past Dúinín Pier and on to where the way goes on to the cliff.  You will see us at this point.

When the day is done enjoy a meal in our restaurant while watching the sun set over the Atlantic.

Bicycling

The very best way to discover the beauty of our Dingle Peninsula is on a bicycle.
While you have sufficient speed to cover a large area comfortably you don't whizz by
at fourty or fifty miles an hour, missing the minutiae of hedgerows teeming with
wild life, or the subtlety of the ever changing light and spectacular cloud formations.

On a bike, you are not just looking at the scenery - you are part of it !
