The Cashel Palace is a beautiful and elegant place, which has inspired travellers, writers and clergymen for centuries and still continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of all its guests.
This 1730 Queen Anne style house has survived rebellion and has been home to Archbishops, Earls and Lords. This place has never been owned, it has simply adopted appropriate sentinels as the years have passed. A striking feature of the hotel is that despite the formality of its architecture, the overwhelming atmosphere is one of warmth and welcome.
Each individually decorated room possesses its own unique character. Your eye will instantly be drawn to the picturesque views of the Rock of Cashel or the exquisite courtyard leading to the original entrance of the Palace. Our seemingly endless quest for finding the right antique chair or painting has proved most worth while, this has truly been a labour of love.
You will sleep as never before, in beds of comfort and grandeur and bathe in the most opulent of surroundings. Most recently, by renovating the Coach House to the front of the hotel, we have given rise to 10 delightful ensuite bedrooms. This wonderfully renovated building, surrounded by mature trees has a magical feel to it. You will immediately sense a change of emphasis, a more intimate and mystical atmosphere pervades, with lavish furnishing and warm tones.
The Cashel Palace's 28 acres of garden are in fact older than the house itself, with two charming Mulberry trees, planted in 1702, to commemorate the coronation of Queen Anne. These beautiful gardens surround the Rock of Cashel and the 13th Century Cathedral. They were originally an integral part of the Cathedral's grounds. The Bishop's Walk is a private path leading directly to the Rock of Cashel, built for the convenience of Archbishop Theophilus Bolton.
We own a private 5 mile stretch of the River Suir, providing guests with the ultimate "Complete Anglers" experience. In season, we can also arrange Hunting and Shooting parties. There are several Golf Courses to choose from all within easy driving distance of the hotel, as well as Equestrian Centres, Scenic Walks, Historic Tours and Crafts Studios.
The Bishop's Buttery Restaurant: If food is your passion, then you will be pleased to know that we are passionate about serving the finest of modern Irish cuisine. Our Bishop's Buttery Restaurant inspires the palate and the mind, with vaulted ceilings and its magnificent open fireplace. The Cashel Palace boasts its own herb garden, which provides our chefs with organic, homegrown produce in season. All ingredients are sourced locally from producers who are known to us. We are equally proud of our wine cellar and have endeavoured to stock a wide selection of quality wines, to complement our extensive menus.
Guinness Bar: The Cashel Palace is inextricably linked to the world famous Guinness Brewery. In the 1740's Richard Guinis, father of Arthur, provided the Archbishop with his own stout, "the Wine of Ireland". The descendants of Richard Guinis' hop plants are still tended in the Palace gardens. We are proud of this ancient connection with a Brewery, which has become synonymous with everything that is Irish, hence we have named our bar "The Guinness Bar". We look forward to tutoring you in the finer points of sampling a pint of Guinness. An appetising and delightful menu is available throughout the day for light meals until 6pm.
Fishing: The Cashel Palace Hotel owns the fishing rights on two stretches of the finest Trout fishing rivers in Ireland, The Suir and The Aherlow. Both rivers, particularly the Suir also have good Salmon fishing. The hotel has its own appointed Ghillie (Fishing Guide) Mr. Willie McGrath who can be contacted for further details on 062 62016. Mr. McGrath will bring the guest to the best stretches of the river and ensure a successful day to all our clients. He will also provide tackle & equipment if necessary, and any relevant permits at an additional cost.
Conferences: We cater to the Corporate Sector, providing facilities for up to 110 delegates seated in theatre style, or 65 in boardroom style. The discretion of our staff is essential for meetings of this kind and of this you can be assured. You will be assigned a dedicated support team, who will be on hand to deal with all aspects of the function, at the preparatory stage, during the conference and with all follow up issues.
