About The Station House Hotel
The last passenger train made its last stop in Kilmessan, Co. Meath in 1947. A freight service rumbled on, but even that ceased in 1963, signalling an end to an era that had begun in 1862. Only the old Station House remained, a nostalgic reminder of a time gone by. > > In 1981, almost 20 years after the last train stopped at Kilmessan, Chris and Thelma Slattery rescued The Station House from oblivion. They fell under the spell of its romantic charm, purchased the property and in the years that followed lovingly transformed it into the first class hotel and restaurant it is today.
