The Coach House at Butlerstown Castle, Waterford, Ireland providing Bed and Breakfast ( B & B ) accommodation in an elegantly restored 19th. Century stone–built Country Home Guest House. We offer comfortable accommodation in an historic and rustic setting. Located just five minutes drive from Waterford Crystal, just outside Waterford City, The Coach House is a 3–Star Irish Tourist Board Approved Guest House. We also hold a (4) Q rating from The Automobile Association, one of only 68 such establishments in Ireland.
Since 1995, we have received annual recognition in the Michelin Guide to Ireland. In February 1998 The Coach House was also chosen by Britain's "Best" magazine as their number one choice in Ireland, (of their top 10 for the British Isles) for "excellent holiday accommodation and superb value for money".
In recent years the house has been tastefully restored and extended to provide our guests with en–suite accommodation in seven bedrooms (most of which have a King size bed ), with direct dial telephone, colour T.V. and tea/coffee making facilities. Many of our bedrooms also have commanding views of the surrounding countryside, Castle and mountains.
Waterford city (three miles East of the Coach House) is a city justifiably proud of its Viking, Medieval and Maritime history. Today it proudly celebrates that heritage. Walk through its streets or visit its historical buildings and Heritage Centre to come face to face with its rich cultural past. Today Waterford City boasts an eclectic selection of Pubs, old and new, some excellent night clubs, fine restaurants and a theatre and a music scene to rival the best anywhere in Ireland. Needless to say no visit to Waterford would be complete without a visit to the factory and Visitor Centre of the famous Waterford Crystal situated just 2.5 miles from The Coach House.
At the Coach House, visitors can avail of the best of all worlds! Although a mere half mile from the main Waterford to Cork road (watch for the sign for Butlerstown Church on the N.25) here tranquility is guaranteed. In the vicinity country walks abound, with the Megalithic Knockeen and Gaulstown Dolmens a short distance away and the banks of the gentle River Suir just two miles to the north east.
For the golfer, five of Ireland's top golf courses are situated at just 20 minutes drive from our front door. These are; Waterford Castle, Faithlegg House, Waterford City, Tramore and Dunmore East. After a hard day on the course why not relax in our private sauna and ease those aches away. You can also be on the scenic Comeragh Drive or Nire Valley routes in half an hour.
