Book accommodation online for Brown Trout Golf & Country Inn at Irelandin1.com - your one stop shop for accommodation in Derry and for hotels in Ireland
Welcome to the Brown Trout Golf & Country Inn. You might want to stay for a drink, for dinner, for the weekend or maybe just for a round of golf. No matter how long you stay with us we want you to enjoy the Brown Trout experience.
You’ll find we’ve worked very hard to make things laid back here. The gym is fully equipped and usually quite empty! The nine–hole golf course crosses water seven times but you’re never far from help and encouragement from bar manager of 39 years, Gerry McIlwaine. The Brown Trout staff know you’re here to relax and that’s what makes our regulars come back time and again.
At the Brown Trout we know that relaxing means different things to different people. For some, food and drink is all–important. The bar food is fresh and exciting – anything from rib–eye steak to local fresh fish. The restaurant has an extensive menu where again the focus is on excellent home cooking.
For others, putting your feet up is the closest thing to heaven. We’re happy for you to do that too. Our accommodation, based on the American motel style, is where many of our guests like to spend their spare time. That’s because the quality of the rooms is unparalleled. In fact, our new cottages are so good that they have become the first group of self–catering cottages in Northern Ireland to achieve official NITB five–star status. All our accommodation is easy–access for wheelchair users and guests with disabilities.
If you do want to get out and about then remember that you’re only a few miles from the very edge of north west Europe. The coast line is rugged and beautiful. There are countless natural attractions like the Giant’s Causeway and the Glens of Antrim, the Antrim Coast Road and the mighty sea cliffs at Binevenagh. Derry City and Limavady are only half an hour to the west and Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart and Ballycastle the same distance to the east. That’s when you realise how central a location the Brown Trout is.
And you’ll probably find, like most people, that you come back in the evenings to the heart of the matter – the Brown Trout bar. At weekends there’s nowhere better. There’s live music, there’s a great mood and you make friends here fast.
The Brown Trout has a combination of hotel rooms graded 3 star and cottage suites graded 5 star. The bedrooms are in a courtyard adjacent to the main building and are laid out in American style with two double beds, with an extra guest bed available if required. All but two bedrooms have baths and separate walk in showers. The rooms are very accessible and are graded category 1 disability access by the Tourist board. The cottage suites give you the added advantage of a cottage living area with a real peat fire, a fully equipped kitchen and a luxurious lounge overlooking the golf course.
